Variations on a Miter Saw Stand

RATE THIS:

In issue #148, June/July 2010, we published a story on making the stand above. It's meant to hold a miter saw, but the same plans could be adapted for a number of other uses.

You can build it with doors and drawers and use it as a mobile cart. The top is now a fixed piece, rather than a moveable platform, as in the original design.

Here's another Idea:

Use it for a mortising machine. Move the top down a bit, and make two drawers to fit underneath it to hold your chisels and bits. Mortising machines are pretty heavy, so a single drawer probably won't work because the top might sag. With two drawers, the center divider will prevent this.
