THE PALLET BOOKCASE

RATE THIS:

AS I HAVE DENAILED A FEW MORE PALLETS,HAVE MADE THIS BOOKCASE AS I HAVE ALOT OF BOOKS THAT NEED A HOME.THIS IS OILED WITH BOILED LINSEED,AS ITS EASY TO WIPE CLEAN IF DUST ACCUMALATES OVER THE YEARS.PLUS YOU CAN ALWAYS RE OIL NOW AND AGAIN,AND IT WILL OVER THE YEARS GO A GOLDEN HONEY COLOUR.

Nice work Derrick, however too bad the picture is so small. I can't see the details of the joinery, crown molding and base. I can neither see what can of wood you used.

Well done again!

    Best,

THE WOOD IS FROM A PINE PALLET WHICH WAS HARD TO GET HOLD OF .I HAD TO CHOOSE MY LENGHTS THEN GLUE AND CRAMP THEM ,SO I ENDED UP WITH BOARDS THAT WERE 20 INCH WIDE X 6 FT HIGH THE THICKNESS IS ONLY 5/8. THE MOULDING I HAD TO DO IN 2 CUTS REVERSING TIMBER AS MY SPINDLE IS ONLY 1 INCH WIDE. JOINTS ARE HOUSED .SO ARE SHELVES.ALL GLUED NO SCREWS.USED PEAR GLUE.THE MOULDING IS PINNED USING A RAPESCO NAIL GUN WITH 18MM PINS .ONCE THE PANELS ARE GLUED SO I HAVE MY BOARD,I HAVE TO TRAVERSE PLANE BOARDS TO GET THEM SQUARE.ONCE I GOT ALL BOARDS READY I HOUSE JOINTS THEN GLUE AND SASH THEM.ONCE DRIED I SAND THEM ,THEN WHITE SPIRIT THE CASE ,BEFORE I USE BOILED LINSEED OIL.

I ENJOY DENAILING PALLETTS THEN CLEANING THEM UP,AS WHILE I AM DOING THAT, IDEAS COME INTO MY HEAD TO MAKE THINGS OUT OF THEM.BUT IF YOU SPEND TIME MAKING A PIECE OF FURNITURE OUT OF PALLETT WOOD YOU THEN GET THE SATISFACTION THAT YOU HAVE ACHEIVED SOMETHING WORTHWHILE?THAT PALLETT I USED TO MAKE BOOKCASE COULD HAVE BEEN ON THE END OF SOMEONES FORKLIFT TRUCK SOMEWHERE AROUND THE WORLD? BUT I RESCUED IT?WHEN I BUY PALLETTS I TAKE MY TIME PICKING THE ONES I KNOW THAT I CAN USE.AS SOME PALLETTS ARE USELESS AS THEY USE RING NAILS NOT STAPLES. STAPLED PALLETTS ARE BETTER TO TAKE APART,AS IT WONT SPLIT.WHEN MAKING ANYTHING OUT OF WOOD NEVER RUSH?AS THERES ALWAYS TOMOROW?
